Biography
Born in 1968 in Melbourne, Nicola Moss’s childhood was divided between Scotland and Australia. In 1989 Nicola Moss moved to Sydney where she began her career as an artist.
She had her first solo show there in 1992. Later that year she moved to Queensland where she currently lives in the Gold Coast Hinterland. On moving to Queensland, Moss studied Printmaking and Painting at the Brisbane Institute of Art and began to exhibit regularly in group and solo exhibitions finally becoming a fulltime practicing artist in 2005. In recent years Moss has been a finalist in numerous art awards.
Nicola's practice is currently concerned with the interaction of humans with the natural environment as her visits to nature reserves have shown that the two are inevitably and inseparably interconnected. Her new work, to be shown in the exhibition ‘PLANT-LIFE’ at the Redland Art Gallery in 2010, will celebrate and venerate the uniqueness of flora and habitat, aiming to raise awareness of the natural environment and look at issues of balance in human/environmental dependence and domination.
